A COUPLE
Luigi, skipper, artist, born in Arezzo, Kate, archaeologist, born in England…met by chance at his exhibition, he taught her to draw, now they draw together, two hands, two minds, two souls, united on one piece of paper….
ABOUT 50 PENS PER DRAWING
That’s what it takes to fill a piece of paper 100x70cm! Using all types of black ink pens…Pilot, Staedtler and others…from very fine pencil-like 0.05, to intense black 0.5… different techniques used to create light and shadow and perspective…often with a dash of colour, silver or gold, to draw in the eye.
ABOUT 300 HOURS OF WORK
That’s what it takes on average to complete a drawing…no pencil draft, but straight in with the pen… the ideas coming from two minds, drawing on a font of experiences and dreams which never end and continue to grow day by day.
A LIFE OF TRAVELS
From Europe to Asia and Australasia, travel is an essential part of Luigi and Kate’s life….drawings of sea and boats reflect Luigi’s many years as skipper throughout the Mediterranean…then there are the many cities they have visited whether real or in their dreams, ancient or modern…drawings almost always touched by nature…animals, trees and flowers, giving life to the page…
